The EPSS 050 handles the widest motor range in the series (63B14 through 80B14). For applications requiring 90B14 motor flanges or the maximum torque capacity available in the stainless steel range, the EPSS 063 is the appropriate step up.

Materials & Design Features
304 Stainless Steel Housing
The entire housing, flange faces, and mounting feet are manufactured from AISI 304 stainless steel. Unlike painted aluminium housings that suffer paint flaking in chlorinated washdown environments — creating a contamination risk — the 304SS construction is inherently corrosion-resistant and eliminates paint as a contamination vector entirely. Surface finish is electro-polished for cleanability.
IP69K Washdown Protection
Sealed to IP69K — the highest ingress protection rating available. The gearbox withstands high-pressure (80-100 bar), high-temperature (80 degrees C) close-range washdown jets used in meat, dairy, and pharmaceutical facilities. This exceeds the IP66 rating common on standard industrial gearboxes and eliminates the need for protective covers during cleaning cycles.
VITON (FKM) Oil Seals
All shaft seals use VITON fluoroelastomer (FKM) as standard — not NBR. VITON resists the caustic cleaning chemicals (sodium hydroxide, peracetic acid, chlorine) used in food industry CIP and COP procedures that destroy NBR seals within weeks. Temperature range: -20 degrees C to +200 degrees C continuous.
20CrMnTi Worm Shaft with Zi Profile
The worm shaft is machined from 20CrMnTi alloy steel with a Zi-profile tooth form (involute globoid). Carburised case depth 0.8-1.2 mm, surface hardness HRC 58-62. The Zi profile provides optimised contact geometry for higher load capacity and lower noise compared to standard ZA or ZN profiles.
CuSn12Ni2 Bronze Worm Wheel
The worm wheel uses CuSn12Ni2 nickel-tin-bronze — a higher-performance alloy than the standard CuSn10Pb1 used in general-purpose gearboxes. The 2% nickel content increases tensile strength and corrosion resistance, making it specifically suited for food-grade environments where trace lubricant contact with product is a regulatory concern.
Food-Grade Lubricant & O-Ring Seal
Factory-filled with NSF H1 registered food-grade synthetic lubricant, safe for incidental food contact per FDA 21 CFR 178.3570. An additional O-ring on the input flange face provides a secondary moisture barrier, preventing cleaning solution ingress through the motor-to-gearbox interface during high-pressure washdown.
