An electrically operated solenoid valve enables the fluid coupling circuit to be fed when it is turned ON. The oil drains by means of calibrated orifices situated on the outer diameter of the fluid coupling. When it is turned OFF, it disengages the engine from the load.

The engine flywheel is related to the KPTO input by a flexible coupling. The output shaft can be related to the pushed machine by an elastic coupling, cardan shaft or pulley.

KPTO is a variable fill fluid coupling enclosed into a casing linked to the diesel engine by means of a SAE housing. The KPTO has been designed to fulfill customer requirements combining the specialized attributes of a standard Energy Just take Off with the performance of a fluid coupling.
